What Algebra Questions Look Like in Year 7 NAPLAN
- Finding missing numbers: "If 3n + 4 = 16, what is n?"

The Balance Method
The most powerful mental model for algebra is the balance scale. Teach your child that an equation is like a balanced scale — whatever you do to one side, you must do to the other. This makes the abstract concrete.

Pattern sequences are one of the most tested and most improvable areas in Year 7 NAPLAN. Students need to identify the rule and extend it reliably.
